Living With Autism + The People's Study - Jenny McCarthy

April is Autism Awareness Month. As of 2020, 1 in 36 American kids have this neurological condition, which means rates have gone up over 300% in the last 20 years. Is it as simple as a change in diagnostic criteria, or is something far bigger at play? Two parents of adults with autism, Brian and Polly, host today’s “Good Morning CHD” episode. They discuss what life has looked like for their families over the decades, their thoughts on the current state of developmental disorders in children and the future of autism around the globe.

Followed by… A lawsuit, filed against the California Department of Health and governor Gavin Newsom, seeks to restore medical freedom for families in the state — the right to opt out of mandatory shots and attend public school. For far too long, children have been discriminated against on the basis of their vaccination status, but this is more than just a fight for the right to an education. It is about the right to choose — in the Golden State and beyond. Alix Mayer shares the details.

And then… While shopping for groceries, Jenny McCarthy stumbled upon a magazine article on vaccination that gave her an unsettling feeling. When it came time for her son to be immunized, Jenny did not want to go through with it, but the doctor assured her it would be just fine. That's when the worried mother's worst fears came true, and Jenny knew it was her duty to speak out and share her story. And that is exactly what she did, in this ""Vaxxed"" interview. Watch it on CHD.TV.
