HHS Unveils New Food Pyramid + Heed Redfield's Warning
HHS just announced new dietary guidelines for Americans. Many are contrasting it to the old food pyramid, which emphasized carbohydrates and put protein and fats in the back seat. Here, to discuss what these changes mean for public health, is Sally Fallon of the Weston A. Price Foundation.
Next… After the CDC announced changes to childhood vaccine recommendations, advocates closely monitored state health department websites. On the Georgia DPH Child & Adolescent Immunization Schedule, parents are routed to the AAP schedule, not the CDC’s updated guidance. This shift was not announced publicly and was discovered through frequent site checks in the hours and days following the CDC announcement. Tia Severino unmasks this “shadow policymaking” during the second segment of today’s program.
Followed by… Robert Redfield, M.D. served as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2018 to 2021, which overlapped with the introduction of the COVID pandemic. And because of his time at this agency, as well as his previous experience with HIV research and virology in general, Dr. Redfield’s take on public health is extremely valuable. Tune in to “Doctors & Scientists” this week to watch his exclusive interview.
