The newly-passed “GENIUS Act” allows for banks to issue “stablecoins” which are a type of cryptocurrency equivalent to another asset such as the U.S. dollar or gold. Unlike other forms of digital currency whose price may fluctuate, this one is intended to maintain a steady value. But as it is with anything that sounds too good to be true, there is a catch to this deceptive operation.
