A handful of traditional midwives, along with an Amish family, recently claimed that midwives were being blocked from obtaining certifications necessary for legal practice, and after filing this suit, the law was repealed. Abigail Iovine, also known as “Abby the Midwife,” discusses the different types of midwifery, how they compare to conventional perinatal hospital treatment and ways the public can help promote choice when it comes to reproductive care across the country.
