Big Food is “freaked out.” And they’re paying influencers to lie to you about it.
An explosive report in The Guardian pulled back the curtain: the industrial food giants, through a front group called the “Center for Food Integrity,” are secretly paying social media influencers with millions of followers to attack MAHA, to tell you pesticides are safe, that your concerns are “chemophobia,” and that you should keep eating their processed food. The same corporations that gave us the chronic disease epidemic would rather pay people to say the food is fine than make the food better.
We’ve seen this playbook before. It’s what the government did during COVID: pay influencers, hide the payments, call the truth “misinformation.” It didn’t work then. It won’t work now. Because you cannot astroturf your way out of the truth, and the truth is that more than half the country now believes what this movement believes. Americans are voting with their wallets and the processed-food industry is reeling. This is Big Food’s tobacco moment.
Tony Lyons also exposes the most insidious trick in their arsenal: convincing the people who fought and won that they somehow failed. Don’t fall for it. That’s not the truth you’re hearing. That’s fear.
