Fluoride: Put It on Your Teeth, But Don’t Swallow

If fluoride’s main purported benefit for teeth is strictly topical and dentists warn against swallowing it, why is it in products like toothpaste that are easily and often swallowed? More importantly, why is it added to our drinking water?

The long-running narrative claims that fluoride is considered generally safe if swallowed in very small amounts. But between the fluoride-filled toothpaste, drinking water + dental visits, how much is too much?

Is there a correlation between fluoride ingestion + rising health issues?
